soccer1PLEASE NOTE UPDATED TIME AND PLACE!

Stephen Gaynor School’s soccer team has reached the AIPSL Division Championship game, which will be played against Manhattan Country School. Due to the weather forecast our league has moved the championship game up to Wednesday November 2. The new location is a turf field, at Thomas Jefferson Park located at East 114th and 1st Avenue.

Gaynor’s Green Squad Soccer team started the season off strong, winning its first three games by a large margin as the team hoped to repeat as AIPSL division champions. However, the group met some adversity along the way with tougher match ups and injuries to key players, dropping both regular season games against Manhattan Country. Led by a great group of coaches (Mr. Melillo, Mr. Yellin, and Ms. Litvack) and veteran players, the team worked hard in practice to learn from their losses and finished off the season with a fantastic 6-2 record in league play (7-3 overall). The team beat Winston Prep in the semifinals this week to secure a spot in the finals, and hope to cap off their development as a team with a great match in the championship game.

All are welcome and encouraged to cheer on the Gators on November 3!
