Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Stephen Gaynor School is dedicated to promoting and advocating for diversity and inclusion within our school community. We celebrate many types of diversity including ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, ability, religion, sexual orientation, family configuration, language, gender and adoption status. Gaynor works with the Promise Project and the Jack and Jill of America Inc., organization to help the school achieve its diversity and inclusion objectives.

Gaynor has an overarching Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (“DEI”) committee named the Gaynor Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. The members of this committee include different constituents of the Gaynor community, including board members, administrators, faculty and parents.

There are two subcommittees of the Gaynor DEI Committee:

  • Parents Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee
    This committee is under the auspices of the Parents’ Association, and is dedicated to promoting and advocating for increased diversity and sensitivity to differences among Gaynor school families.
  • Employee Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee
    Led by our Director of Student Life/Diversity Coordinator, this committee is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that supports and celebrates each individual in our school community, while ensuring that the values of inclusion and diversity are infused in all aspects of the school for students of all ages.
