Outreach and Innovation

Stephen Gaynor School is a recognized leader in special education with much to offer the greater community. Families who do not attend the school, professionals in education, and community partners can benefit from Gaynor’s expertise and experience.

The office of Outreach and Innovation was created as part of the 2022-2027 Strategic Plan, with the goal of facilitating initiatives in community education and connectedness, expanding access to new audiences, and exploring school community partnerships and outreach opportunities.

Gaynor is committed to excellence in the field of special education and maintains partnerships with many experts and organizations in New York City and beyond. We work with these groups to expand access to our school, provide professional development to our faculty/staff, source speakers to better educate our parent-body, and hold meaningful community service opportunities.

Our flagship community outreach program is our Community Learning Center (CLC) which provides free reading remediation to public school students to get them back on grade-level.

Gaynor is a member of the following associations and groups:

  • Academy of Orton Gillingham Practitioners and Educators
  • Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York
  • National Association of Independent Schools
  • Parents League of New York, Inc.
  • The Guild of Independent Schools
