This year, the Winter Concerts were held on December 20 and 21! The students sang songs and performed skits about belonging and kindness.

Closing Out Hispanic Heritage Month with Breakfast My Way
The first Breakfast My Way of the year was held on October 25 to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Hosted by Mina Newsman, the breakfast featured a menu of empanadas, conchas, and toasted hot chocolate.
Unearthing History in the Green Cluster
Over the past few weeks, Room 701 has been busy learning, creating, and collaborating on various history projects. They’ve learned geographic terms, created 3-D maps of Ancient Greece, made timelines, and excavated gems out of clay tablets.
Making Sentences “Pop”!
In the Red Cluster, students are working to solidify and demonstrate their grasp of sentence-level writing concepts. Ms. Macedo and Ms. Ellis decided to help their students visualize these ideas by using a Writing (a.k.a. Popcorn) Machine.
Students Take a Journey in Dance and Culture in Honor of Hispanic Heritage Month
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, on Wednesday, October 11 Stephen Gaynor School’s neighbors from Ballet Hispánico held an assembly for the entire school. Dancers performed three pieces that took students on a journey from Mexico to Brazil and countries in between, highlighting different music, styles, and costumes.
How Do You Cook Rice?: PA DEI Breakfast
On October 6, the first DEI Coffee was held in the North Cafeteria, with the theme, “All Are Welcome!” Sponsored by the Parents’ Association and hosted by Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Stella Mulatu, Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement Tia Murkison, and PA DEI Chair Adey Fisseha, the coffee focused on having conversations centered around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at Gaynor.
A Doggone Great Reading Partner is Back at Gaynor!
Students at Gaynor are having a tail-wagging good time reading to a very willing listener in Arrow, a therapy dog. Arrow and her owner Susan participate in the Reading Education Assistance Dogs (R.E.A.D.) program, and have been visiting Gaynor since 2017.
