Sensory hallways are back in the halls at Gaynor, with the goal to provide quick movement opportunities near the classroom, which is especially important now as movement about the school is more limited due to COVID restrictions.

Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, is dedicated to recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans. This fall, Gaynor students did just that through both drama and music.

Tying in to Gaynor’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion curriculum, students in the Lexington Room participated in a multisensory lesson where they portrayed themselves — both inside and out!

One Green Cluster class began their study of Ancient Greece last week, incorporating many fun, multisensory activities, including having students become archeologists for a day!

Although Gaynor’s annual field trip to Demarest Farms for apple picking won’t happen this year, students in the Red Cluster found a way to enjoy the tradition in their classroom!

Over the summer, a team of educators worked to create a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion curriculum that would be incorporated at Gaynor beginning this fall.

With the pandemic causing our daily lives to look different, and with the emotions surrounding a very different back-to-school experience, SEL is especially important to help students feel more at ease and help them learn.

As summer drew to a close and the start of the school year approached, Gaynor faculty came together virtually to prepare through a two-week training program.
