Gaynor soccer is back in the building! Gaynor soccer team with 7 players posing togetherOn Monday, October 3, the white squad opened the season by hosting neighboring Geneva School in the first indoor game held in Gaynor’s field house since 2019. It was a close matchup, featuring Gaynor’s Green Cluster students against Geneva’s 5th-6th grade team. Geneva scored an early goal but then both team defenses stepped up, not allowing any goals through the half. Gaynor had a few opportunities to tie the game, but shots by Riley F. and Patrick M. went just wide of the goal. After two late goals by Geneva, Gaynor finally found the back of the net when Luca E. intercepted a crossing pass and booted it in! Gaynor ran out of time on the comeback, falling by a score of 1-3. Despite the loss, Coach Gaynor soccer players on the field getting ready to kick the ballPrasarn was extremely proud of how the team handled their first full game together, saying, “We preach improvement every day and the team was able to make quick adjustments that worked while gaining valuable in-game experience. There were a lot of positives that we can keep building on in every practice and game for the rest of the season.” Spirits were still high as the post-game team pictures showed lots of smiles and pride in wearing the Stephen Gaynor School name on their jerseys!
