Strengthening Our Core Competencies and Broadening Our Reach: Strategic Plan 2022-2027
This fall, the Stephen Gaynor School Board of Trustees approved the strategic plan for 2022-2027. The plan is the culmination of a year’s work by over 40 members of the Gaynor community, including faculty, staff, parents, trustees, grandparents, former parents, and alumni.
Parents’ Association Breakfast My Way Celebrates Hanukkah
On December 14, parents gathered for the second Breakfast My Way of the year in celebration of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights. Sponsored by the Parents’ Association, Breakfast My Way is an opportunity for the parent community to come together to learn about their fellow parents’ cultures and traditional breakfast foods.
“Focused” on Author Alyson Gerber
Author Alyson Gerber returned to Gaynor on December 6 to speak with the Green and Blue Clusters about her path to becoming a published author and the lessons she learned along the way. Gerber last visited Gaynor in 2019. Gerber’s novels resonate with Gaynor students, particularly Focused, which tells the story of a girl with ADHD who is hyper-focused on chess.
Author Chelsea Clinton visits Gaynor
Author Chelsea Clinton visited the Purple through Silver Clusters on November 29 to read from two of her books and take questions from the students. Clinton was invited to Gaynor by the Parents’ Association through a connection with Gaynor parent and Book Fair Committee member Dana Raucher, in conjunction with the Scholastic Book Fair held on December 1. This year’s Book Fair Chairs Samantha Regan and Katy Williamson welcomed Clinton to Stephen Gaynor School’s Performing Arts Center and introduced her to her attentive audience.
Wherefore Art Thou, Blue Cluster?
Teaching Artists from New Victory Theater came to Stephen Gaynor School for a drama workshop with Blue Cluster students before they saw Romeo and Juliet at the theater on November 9.
Police Officers in Pink!
On November 4, Gaynor welcomed two officers from the 20th Precinct, Officer Murphy and Officer Scalici, to talk to the Pink Cluster students as they continue their unit of study on services in the community.

Diwali 2022 Celebrations
This week, there have been many observances of Diwali at Gaynor, including the Parents’ Association’s Breakfast My Way, Green and Blue Town Halls, and student presentations!
Shakespeare’s STEAM Rescue!
The new Blue Cluster STEAM Fine Arts course is wrapping up their first major Design Cycle/Open Ended Problem Solving Project, where they had to design a device that would help them save a Shakespeare figurine from the bottom of the South Building stairwell.
