Posted on Thursday, October 24th, 2019

As the fall season enters its final weeks, the Gaynor Gators are playing together and competing well.

It was a winning week for Gaynor soccer. The White Team took on Cathedral School in the Field House on Monday, October 21, ending a hard-fought contest in a 3-3 tie. Coach Andrew Prasarn said, “This was our most physical game so far, and we were very evenly matched. We were down 3-nothing early in the game, but scored three straight unanswered goals to salvage the tie.” On Tuesday, October 22, the White Squad defeated Manhattan Country 3-1. The Green Team played hard, but their contest against British International School on Thursday ended in a 3-1 loss.

In volleyball, the White Squad took on Speyer early in the week and came away with a 2-1 win (25-15, 25-9, 9-15). On Thursday, the team faced Rodeph Sholom, and again came away with a 2-1 win (25-13, 25-14, 11-15).

Gaynor cross country runners had another successful meet this week. Coach Caitlin Kearney said, “The older runners showed great leadership as they lead the team through stretches and warm ups. Zoe Nussbaum improved her time by almost a full minute from the week prior. Gus Hubner and Daniel Lioudis gave this race their all by sprinting to the finish. Kai Marksohn, Madeline Bender and Julian Knopf times remain consistent week after week demonstrating excellent pacing.” At Thursday’s cross country meet, the top three finishers for the Gaynor girls were Halle Maanavi (12:41), Liv Olesen (13:01), and Chandra Kyrwood (13:05). Finishing in Gaynor’s top three for the boys were Calvin Hills (12:02), Chace Roebling (12:04), and Samuel Karr (13:11).

Congratulations to all our athletes!
