“G” is for Gaynor Pride at February’s Breakfast My Way

Posted on Thursday, February 13th, 2025

On February 12, the Gaynor community celebrated the first Breakfast My Way of 2025. In the theme of Spirit Week, which took place from February 10 through February 14, the breakfast focused on Gaynor Pride!

The North Cafeteria was decorated in an explosion of green, with green and white balloons, sparkling green and gold heart garlands, and the green clothing that attendees were wearing to fit the breakfast’s theme. The breakfast also featured a spread of green and white donuts, paired with bagels, cream cheese, and an array of breakfast sandwiches. The donuts were extra special for the event, as they were in the shape of the letter G!

Head of School Dr. Scott Gaynor kicked off the breakfast by sharing a few words about the Gaynor community. He spoke about how, despite the challenges that we all face outside of the school, inclusion and belonging are always at the center of the Gaynor community. He praised the ability of the Gaynor community to rise up together to celebrate our differences, and live Stephen Gaynor School’s mission every day.

Dr. Gaynor then opened the floor to the special guests for this breakfast, the Yellow Cluster Community Service Club. Members of the club came to the breakfast to share what they love about Gaynor. They spoke about how the teachers help students, the smaller class sizes, and how they’ve been able to grow since coming to the school. One student said, “The classes are just right for me,” and another added, “This school has really helped me.” The final student speaker ended their segment with, “I like how everybody is included and can dress how they want and feel how they want.” It was wonderful to hear directly from students how supported they feel at Gaynor. You can’t have more Gaynor pride than that!

It may have been chilly outside, but the North Cafeteria was filled with warmth as attendees felt the love of the Gaynor community. Breakfast My Way is an event sponsored by the Parents’ Association DEI Committee to bring parents together to learn about the breakfast traditions, holidays, and cultures of their fellow Gaynor families. You can read more about previous Breakfast My Ways here. The Spirit Week event was a great twist on Breakfast My Way, and we are excited to continue celebrating the Gaynor community at future events.
