Election Day in Room 202

In honor of Election Day, Red Cluster students learned about the mayoral election in New York City and what it means to vote.

In Head Teacher Jordan Thaler and Assistant Teacher Emilee Bamford’s class, students learned about the election, asking questions like, “How do you know what the mayor says is true?” and “Can I ask my parents who they voted for?” At the end of the lesson, the class took a vote on which park they would like to visit as a cluster next Monday.

“The students were so excited and asked fantastic questions,” Ms. Thaler said. “Students cast their ballots in the private ‘polling station’ and received ‘I Voted!’ stickers that many sported throughout the day. We’re teaching them about being a member of their community, and about activism and standing up for what you believe in, so voting is the perfect intersection of that.”
