Apple Picking is Back!

Posted on Friday, September 22nd, 2023

On September 21, Stephen Gaynor School revived a cherished tradition, and returned to Demarest Farms for apple picking! In a buzz of excitement, students loaded onto buses to head to the farm for the first time since 2019. Once they arrived at the farm, it was only a quick hayride before they arrived at the orchard, ready to pick their own apples. Each student had a bag to carry the apples they picked, and they filled them with varying types of apples, from red apples such as Jonathan, Gala, and Enterprise, to green Granny Smiths! The day at the orchard also included seeing farm animals, eating apple cider donuts, and of course, spending time admiring (and sampling!) the apples they chose. Before long, it was time to head back to the buses to bring the apples to school for fun class projects, or home to share with family and friends. Everyone had a blast, including our faculty and staff!
