Fun with Phonological Awareness

In Room 202, Red Cluster students are hard at work practicing their phonological awareness with fun activities, such as jumping on colored dots to help them conceptualize how words can be segmented and sounded out.

Implementing Charters in the Early Childhood and Lower Divisions

This past spring semester, the Pink through Yellow Clusters worked on Social Emotional Learning lessons. Each class created a classroom Charter that represented the community, emotions, and responsibilities that students and teachers in that class wanted to establish together. Charters are one of the anchor tools designed for use in RULER, a social-emotional program that helps students learn how to cope with their feelings, make decisions, and get along with others.

Beyond the Classroom: Honing Student Executive Functioning Skills

In January, the Blue Cluster introduced an executive functioning after school class to provide more explicit support for students who have executive function challenges. Executive functions are a set of processes that have to do with managing oneself and one’s resources in order to achieve a goal, and this class helps by providing more explicit instruction, ongoing support, and practice for students who need it.

Congratulations to Gaynor’s Class of 2022

The Class of 2022 enjoyed a two-day celebration of their time at Gaynor beginning with a Graduate/New Alumni Breakfast on Thursday, June 16, followed with a formal graduation ceremony on Friday, June 17, at the W83 Ministry Center on the Upper West Side. One theme in particular was clear throughout each of the speeches on graduation day — that of advocating for yourself and fighting for what you believe in.

Fire-knife dancing, basket weaving, and the importance of coconuts were all things Blue Cluster students learned this month in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

On May 23, the Gaynor community joined together in person at Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers, for Gaynor Gala 2022. Pier Sixty was an apt location for the Gala this year, as the school celebrated its 60th anniversary.

On May 23, 2022, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, and their son Joaquin Consuelos ’17, hosted Gaynor Gala 2022. The next morning, Kelly Ripa joined her co-host Ryan Seacrest on LIVE with Kelly and Ryan to talk about the event and about how much Gaynor has meant to their family.
