This Week in Gaynor Sports – October 11-22

This week’s TWIGS covers the past two weeks in Gaynor athletics.

On Thursday, October 14, the volleyball team competed well but came away with a loss against The School of Columbia. Athletic Director Pat Fitzgerald said, “The team had some great rallies, and the teams were well matched, with exciting back-and-forth games.” On October 19, the team fell to Avenues in three sets.

Last week was a quiet week for Gaynor soccer with Monday off for the holiday, but a productive practice on Thursday. According to Coach Andrew Prasarn, “The team was able to evaluate our performances in the last few games and revisit some fundamental skills, drills, and conditioning exercises.” This week, the team came away with two hard-fought losses against Geneva (4-2) on October 18 and Speyer (4-1) on the 19th. Coach Prasarn said, “The coaches and team would like to recognize a dedicated group of Gaynor parents who have traveled to all the fields across NYC and have cheered on the team at every game. Thank you for your support and please keep it up!”

Cross Country did not have a meet this week.
