Devin O’Neill ’86 remembers his time at Gaynor fondly. Of his years at Gaynor, he says, “What was great was the connection I felt to the other students. There was a sense of ‘we’re all in this together.'”
After Gaynor, Devin attended the Dwight School. As his focus on the arts grew, he went on to attend The Putney School, where he studied sculpture and spent a lot of his time in the large outdoor sculpture studio. Devin continued to study sculpture at Bennington College. As his interest in sculpture transformed into a love of architecture, Devin was accepted into the prestigious Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. Here he developed a close bond with architect Shin Egashira, traveling with him to do workshops in Japan. When Devin returned to the U.S., he was accepted into Yale School of Architecture, from which he holds both a BA and MA in Architecture.
Devin is now partner at O’Neill Rose Architects, an award-winning architecture firm he leads with his wife. Current projects include a house in Montana, cabins for Camp Glen Brook in Keene, New Hampshire, and an Arts Foundation in lower Manhattan. He and his wife live in Brooklyn with their two sons.
