Thursday, September 15th (10-3 win vs. UNIS Queens)

After winning the school’s first ever American International Private School League (AIPSL)  championship last year, there was a little concern that the team would become complacent and come out of the gate slow to start the season. At their first game, the Gators beat UNIS Queens by a score of 10-3 . Philip R. scored five goals, Justin K. scored three, and Nikko Z. and Dylan K. each had one apiece. The game started off a little slow with strong defense from both sides, but once we found the back of the net the momentum continued to build. Jasper L. and Jack S. both were strong in goal with Val B. playing a strong sweeper.

Thursday, September 22nd (10-1 win vs. Winston Prep)
After winning their first game the Gators were confident, but well aware of the tough match up that Winston Prep has proven to be over the years in many different sports. The coaches moved some players around, offered frequent substitutions, and relied upon the very deep bench to keep the game moving at a fast pace, favoring the well-conditioned Gators. The team found themselves with many opportunities early on, but a couple of shots off the post and strong play kept the game scoreless for the first 12 minutes of play. But once again, the scoring began and it never seemed to stop as they cruised to 10-1 victory.
.
Phil R. led all scores again with three more goals, while Dylan K., Ryan L. and Val B. each scored twice. Justin K. also added another goal to his total, while creating many of the opportunities from the midfield for the other strikers. Jasper L. and Jack S. split the goalkeeping duties again, while Michael K. showed great leadership and control of the defense as he moved into the sweeper position.
The Gators go back to it next week with two more games. Please come out to a game if possible to watch the players in action. We are so proud of them for their athleticism and sportsmanship! The Gaynor Gators continued to model exemplary sportsmanship with a positive attitude and respect for their opponents and officials.
We hope to see you at the field!
