GAYNOR FUND VS. CAPITAL GIVING: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE
AND WHY DOES THE STEPHEN GAYNOR SCHOOL NEED BOTH?
THE GAYNOR FUND
The Gaynor Fund donations are yearly gifts that make up
the difference between tuition and the cost of operating
the school. These gifts are received and applied within
the current year. They are designated to provide support
for the school’s ongoing needs, including maintenance,
supplies, and financing the salaries of its employees.
These gifts are unrestricted, which means that the donor
gives the school’s administration jurisdiction over
how the funds are best distributed.
For example, if you donate to the Stephen Gaynor School’s
Gaynor Fund, the School will use your unrestricted gift
wherever the needs and opportunities are greatest. Your
gift may go towards building maintenance, ordering school
supplies, or the salaries of our teachers and specialists,
to name a few possibilities.
CAPITAL GIVING
Capital Giving refers to gifts given outside of the Annual
Fund. Capital gifts contribute towards a certain goal.
They are designated to a specific program or financial
plan, and the giver retains discretion over where the gift
is applied. Capital gifts may be pledged in full and then
paid over a predetermined number of years.
If you make a Capital gift to the Stephen Gaynor School,
your donation will go to our current Capital Campaign,
Building for the Future. This is the concentrated fundraising
effort to raise the remaining funds for our upcoming move
to the new building.
