The writing program recognizes the critical relationship
between writing and language. Writing is incorporated into
all academic areas. Students learn to gather and organize
information, summarize, paraphrase, outline, take notes
and edit their written work. Spelling, grammar, word processing
and handwriting instruction reinforce clarity and help
each student to become a more confident writer. As in other
areas, the approach to teaching writing is interdisciplinary
and incorporates the expertise of language pathologists,
occupational therapists, and computer specialists.
